Water’s Edge

The stars have come out to play,
And the fireflies dance around the water’s edge.
A camp fire flickers with their laughter...
A breeze rushes by and I tug my jacket tighter.
Something is pulling me away,
And I’m willing to go.
My time with them is done,
My chores are no more.
Peace lingers in the air about the two,
The world knows their future,
But only I know mine.

Another morning I awake to dawn’s sweet breath,
Years have passed by.
The photos are faded, but the memory is clear.
Two by two the camp fire circle left for new lives,
Now just one...
I return to the water’s edge that night,
Building up a crackling fire as the sound of waves remains.
I feel the wind lovingly touch my face, as a tear falls.
Now is not the time, but that shall not keep my heart from breaking.
The painful silence is a hurt that never seems to end,
And I hear the sound of glass breaking that no one else will hear.
Blind and deaf we walk through life until love finds us, and then...
Only then do we hear just the other,
And see a future dancing at the water’s edge.

Always the Servant Heart

A maid so young and fair,
Innocent to the evil deeds of man,
Lives her life serving all who ask.
Always doing God’s will to be a servant heart.
The devil entered her life one day,
When she had lost her faith, and found no guidance.
She was still that servant heart, but for all the wrong reasons.
Each person that then entered her life used her kind and loving heart,
And tore it out. Smashing each piece of the broken...
Soon they were not tearing, cutting and ripping her heart,
She was left bloodied, bruised, and torn across the floor.
One helping hand reached into her dark abyss,
Pulled her to the surface to breathe once more.
And again she found happiness,
Serving her faithful friends.
Giving and giving, she scrubbed away the black char of her past,
Happy to be doing God’s will again.
So much so that when one man came along she saw the goodness in his eyes.
And she refused to open the doors to her past too him,
Though he offered honest and true friendship.
For once she did not fear a man, but being a servant heart,
She wanted to protect him, never see anger nor sadness on his face again.
The sun shone brightly when he smiled...
Servant heart, not a heart breaker.
So she kept her silence, and offered him her heart,
But this servant heart, found no love, and is forever always a serving heart.

Eve of Summer

Flowers are blooming,
Birds are singing.

Life’s joy is all about.
Breathe in the fragrance of the rose’s lure!
Feel the warmth of sun shine, kissing tender skin!

A new day has come!
Heartaches and pains are healed,
Death this eve of summer is no more!

Rejoice! Rejoice!
The day is new,
And we are blessed!
The Lord has replenished all that was lost.
Rejoice! Rejoice!
Praise Him who gives and takes away,
For all are reunited, this eve of summer!

Cry no more little one,
Your father has returned.
Miracle of God!
Run to him share your love,
Cry only tears of joy now,
Weep not in sorrow, fear no more!

Lord, Father in Heaven,
Thank you for this blessed day!
We praise you, one above all,
Giving thanks, this eve of summer!

Taking Hold of Him

There's a life out there waiting for someone to claim it.
Stop hiding from monsters in your closet,
Open the curtains let some light in,
Walk through that door way,
Brush away the spiders,
Untangle yourself from the webs.
Don't you see you're wasting away!
Stop destroying yourself!
I beg you, please!
Open your door, walk into the world,
Become human once again!
You are fading away into the darkness,
And I can no longer hold on.
Losing you will break my heart.
You said you never wanted to cause me pain,
But by choosing not to live,
It hurts me more than anything!
Do you not see!
Look at what you have become!
Slowly you fade, and slowly you change,
You’ve been in the darkness for years!
I almost don't recognize you!
And I'm the only one you allow into this hollow shell.
Why do you insist on causing so much pain?
You kill me, striking my heart with venom,
Open your eyes!
You haven't lost me,
You've lost yourself!
